About the position

This position is part of the Office of Environmental Management - Carlsbad Field Office and is designed for recent graduates through the Recent Graduates Program. It is a one-year developmental program that promotes careers in the Federal Government, providing training, development, and mentorship. Successful participants may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a term or permanent position in the civil service.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise in budget policy development and maintenance.
• Assist in budget process planning and development.
• Formulate and develop management-level budget presentation requirements.
• Coordinate all budget outlay analysis.
• Maintain the budget database for budget formulation and execution.
• Analyze program submissions and conduct statistical analyses of appropriations.
• Develop justifications for requested funds and budgetary analyses.
• Review and interpret legislation, appropriation language, and executive orders related to budget functions.
• Advise program managers on budget areas and present budget issues.

Requirements

• Must be a recent graduate with a qualifying degree or certificate from an accredited institution within the last two years.
• For GS-07: One year of specialized experience at the GS-05 level or equivalent education.
• For GS-09: One year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent education.
• Education must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
