The Budget Analyst position within Renewable Operations at Southern Company involves two distinct roles, each focusing on different aspects of budgeting and financial management for renewable energy facilities. The first role supports the self-perform Wind fleet, which encompasses ten sites. The primary responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining both Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and Capital accounting, budgeting, and reporting processes for the current year and long-range budgets for these facilities. This position is crucial for ensuring that financial operations align with the strategic goals of the Wind fleet and will report directly to the Wind Fleet General Manager. The second role focuses on supporting 15 Solar & Wind sites that are operated and maintained by a third party, along with three Central Texas self-perform solar sites. Similar to the first role, this position will also develop, implement, and maintain O&M and Capital accounting, budgeting, and reporting processes for the current year and long-range budgets. This role is essential for managing the financial aspects of third-party operations and will report directly to a Renewable Region Manager. Both positions require a strong understanding of financial processes and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including operations teams, finance, and accounting departments. The Budget Analyst will play a key role in capital and O&M budget creation, ownership, and reporting for multiple facilities, ensuring that financial data is accurate and timely. Additionally, the analyst will be responsible for monthly and year-end reforecasting, actuals review, and variance explanations to functional and executive management on a routine basis. This role also involves liaising between different teams to facilitate smooth financial operations and support large-scale projects affecting the fleet, such as wind repowering and site acquisition. The position offers the flexibility of hybrid work and requires some overnight travel, although it is not frequent.
