About the position

The Budget Analyst and Trainer at Stanford University will play a crucial role in the University Budget Office (UBO), which manages the university's $9.7 billion consolidated budget. This position involves leading user support, outreach, documentation, and training related to the new budget system, Cardinal Budget and Planning (CPB). The analyst will also be responsible for educating users on financial management concepts and systems, ensuring effective budget management across the university.

Responsibilities

  • Perform highly analytical, complex finance and control functions, including multi-dimensional reconciliations and related analysis.
  • Prepare or review and approve complex transactions and higher-level dollar value transactions.
  • Provide training on new financial systems and serve as a subject matter expert.
  • Manage delegation of financial authority and system access for university budget officers and their staff.
  • Develop plans based on needs assessments that may include coaching, process redesign, and training.
  • Research and synthesize data to identify trends and develop solutions.
  • Help users input data into Oracle SmartView and Adhoc reporting solutions.
  • Develop complex budget and forecasting scenarios for financial reporting and presentations.
  • Lead and execute unit or cross-functional projects and teams.
  • Engage in continuous critical analysis of existing systems and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and six years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
  • Advanced knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and financial systems.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong project management skills and ability to contribute to or lead multi-functional teams.
  • Advanced professional communication skills.
