About the position

The Budget Analyst VI position at the Arizona Supreme Court involves assisting the Chief Financial Officer, Division Directors, and Program Managers with state budgetary matters. The role focuses on preparing division budgets, monitoring expenditures, and developing revenue forecasting models. The analyst will also support special projects resulting from legislative mandates and provide training and development seminars for staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief Financial Officer and Division Directors with state budgetary matters.
  • Prepare complex financial and administrative reports for appropriations and funds managed by each Division.
  • Develop division budget policies and procedures and conduct staff development seminars.
  • Review and reconcile monthly financial reports from counties on disbursed funds.
  • Monitor and audit expenditures to promote accountability.
  • Analyze the fiscal impact of legislation on court appropriations and grant funds.
  • Respond to fiscal inquiries from various stakeholders including the Legislature and AOC Executive Office.
  • Work with program specialists to develop performance measures for funding requests.
  • Research methods to improve efficiency and cost-benefits of court programs and financial operations.
  • Create financial and program reports and prepare management reports based on data analysis.
  • Prepare funding agreement addendums, budget modifications, and various reports in consultation with Program Managers.
  • Provide technical assistance to program managers for grant and budgeting-related program development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (years of experience may substitute for a degree).
  • Minimum of five years in a professional accounting or budget and finance position.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial audits and contract management.
  • Experience in analyzing data and producing management reports in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
