We are seeking a Budget Analyst to provide financial and administrative support for the Chemistry Department in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at Johns Hopkins University. This position is crucial in assisting the Senior Grants and Contracts Analyst (Sr. GCA) and the Financial Manager with post-award transactions and managing non-sponsored funds. The Budget Analyst will be responsible for account reconciliation, compiling ad hoc financial reports, assisting with student payroll, and providing various administrative support as detailed in this job description. The role involves performing monthly reconciliations of financial transactions for both sponsored (grants and contracts) and non-sponsored funds, which include general funds, discretionary funds, and gifts. The Budget Analyst will review and approve expenses on a monthly basis for departmental procurement cards, ensuring that all charges are allowable and appropriately allocated. Additionally, the analyst will serve as a backup for Grants and Contracts Analysts, assisting in the development and preparation of budgets and budget justifications for Principal Investigator (PI) review. This includes updating necessary documents for submission to funding agencies or prime institutions. In terms of financial responsibilities, the Budget Analyst will assist in the development and monitoring of discretionary and sponsored budgets, perform basic calculations and analyses to create budget projections, and ensure that expenses are charged to the correct accounts. The analyst will also help format and prepare quarterly financial reports and ad hoc reports for review by the Sr. GCA, Financial Manager, and faculty, which will be used in quarterly faculty financial meetings. Furthermore, the analyst will manage an electronic filing system for reconciliation records, ensuring compliance with Johns Hopkins University and federal audit policies. The role requires effective communication with various internal and external administrative offices to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.
