About the position

The Budget Analyst position within the Department of the Air Force serves as a resources advisor, focusing on the formulation, execution, and analysis of the organization's budget and funding requirements. This role involves day-to-day management of budgetary issues, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies, and providing guidance on financial matters.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the functional point of contact for day-to-day budget and financial issues.
• Perform budget formulation work, including the review and preparation of budget estimates and financial plans.
• Monitor obligations incurred and actual expenditures of funds during budget execution and administration.
• Provide advice, assistance, and guidance on budgeting and related information.
• Conduct analyses, reviews, and special studies of budget and related information.
• Utilize budgetary and automated systems to accomplish budgeting and funding assignments.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
• At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent, or a master's degree or equivalent graduate education in a relevant field.
• Knowledge of commonly used budgetary methods, practices, procedures, regulations, and policies.
• Skill in gathering, assembling, and analyzing factual information from various sources.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with automated data processing software programs used for budget tasks.
• Ability to make oral presentations on budget matters and conduct training.
