About the position

As a Budget Analyst at the CDC, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of public health programs. This position involves complex budget development, formulation, and execution for various HHS programs, ensuring that funds are allocated effectively to support the agency's mission. You will be responsible for monitoring and reconciling financial commitments, recommending adjustments to work plans, and conducting cost-benefit analyses to guide agency officials in making informed financial decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex budget development, formulation and/or execution functions for substantive HHS programs or administrative budget.
  • Monitor, review and reconcile commitments, obligations, reimbursable orders, etc.
  • Recommend reprogramming and adjustments to work plans to account for changes in funding levels, program changes, and legislative mandates.
  • Develop cost-benefit analysis of proposed budgetary and program actions and advise agency officials and program managers of the most advantageous courses of action.
  • Track obligations, expenditures, and the flow of funds.
  • Ensure fund availability for the processing of obligating documents.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • May be subject to a Background/Security Investigation.
  • Security clearance level may differ from the position announced when certificates are shared.
  • One-year probationary period may be required.
  • This position may be subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Time in grade (TIG) must be met within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
  • This position may be subject to the OGE Financial Disclosure requirements of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978.
  • Minimum Qualifications: At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, including experience with financial management systems, coordinating and developing all aspects of budgeting, financial management matters, and financial management analysis.
