About the position

The Budget Analyst position within the Department of the Air Force serves as the senior resource analyst responsible for complex resource management functions. This role involves the formulation, justification, and execution of various appropriated funds budgeted for the Alaskan Command (ALCOM). The analyst will ensure proper execution of the ALCOM budget and provide financial advisory services, utilizing automated budgetary systems to accomplish budgeting assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate, establish, and implement financial management policies and procedures related to programming, budgeting, funding, and forecasting.
  • Ensure proper execution of the ALCOM budget.
  • Provide financial advisory services for segments of the ALCOM budget.
  • Utilize automated budgetary systems and computer-generated products for budgeting assignments.
  • Provide technical and administrative supervision to a limited number of staff in the Financial Management Office.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent in other pay systems.
  • Expert knowledge of the DOD Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution System.
  • Advanced knowledge of budgetary methods, practices, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to plan, organize, mentor, motivate, and direct a budget team.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions of a small organization.
