About the position

The Budget Analyst position within the Water Mission Area, Observing Systems Division, is responsible for monitoring and managing budgetary obligations and expenditures. The role involves preparing management reports, providing financial advice, and ensuring compliance with budget regulations. The analyst will play a crucial role in the financial oversight of projects, ensuring that funds are utilized effectively and in accordance with federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors, tracks, and reviews obligations, expenditures, and reimbursables.
  • Identifies actions inconsistent with approved budget plans and conditions of fund obligations.
  • Prepares recurring management reports covering the status of funds, trend analyses, obligations, and expenditures.
  • Performs routine aspects of year-end close-out to ensure accurate documentation of expenditures and compliance with regulations.
  • Provides budgetary and financial advice to managers and project personnel regarding processes and requirements.
  • Prepares and explains special and recurring reports regarding the status of funds and variances.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 level in the Federal service, or a Master's degree, or a combination of both.
