About the position

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Research Program promotes Veteran-centered care to improve patient experience and outcomes across VA healthcare and community settings, and to advance value-driven care by providing Veterans the highest quality care at the lowest financial burden. The position is within the Office of Research and Development (ORD) and the facilities where research programs are conducted.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures obligations incurred and resulting expenditures of funds are in accordance with pertinent research and procurement regulations.
  • Coordinates the budgetary program, which includes managing material, budgets, and expenditures of supply, contracts, salary, travel, and equipment funds for all research programs for the research core.
  • Provides management and operating officials the necessary analyses, projections, and interpretations to maintain maximum efficiency, effectiveness, and economy.
  • Involved in the procurement process and has appropriate roles within the IFCAP system for the fund control points (FCP).
  • Reviews and submits patient reimbursement requests for patients participating in various studies to fiscal office.
  • Maintains cost accounting ledgers for current and prior year appropriations assigned to research.

  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Pre-employment physical examination/evaluation may be required.
  • Participation in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program is a requirement for all Veterans Health Administration Health Care Personnel (HCP).

Nice-to-haves

  • Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education or master's or equivalent graduate degree which provided knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.
  • Specialized experience managing contracts, specific project budgets, varied salary funding streams, and general operating funds for a research office.
