About the position
The Budget Analyst position is located in the Mission Support Division of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and focuses on managing regional funds to support financial and budgetary needs. The role involves advising senior leadership, coordinating budget development, and performing high-level financial analysis. The position requires regular physical attendance at the duty station in Lenexa, KS, with occasional travel expected.
Responsibilities
- Advise senior leadership on the efficient and effective use of regional funds considering financial and budgetary needs.
- Coordinate the development of the annual budget with divisional contacts to support regional priorities.
- Assist in the design, maintenance, and utilization of payroll projection and related systems.
- Perform high-level analysis in support of the region's financial programs and present financial briefings.
- Serve as the regional point-of-contact on national work groups related to payroll and financial issues.
Requirements
- 1 year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level managing budget execution for a project or program.
- Experience compiling financial reports for senior management.
- Ability to present budget procedure and strategy information to internal or external parties.
- Knowledge of financial management and budget statutes and regulations.
- Skill in oral communication sufficient to provide technical advice on an organization's budget.
- Ability to consolidate multi-year budget estimates into a single budget request.
