About the position

The Budget Analyst position at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) involves planning, organizing, and executing a significant budget for a major program component. The role requires providing expert advice to top management on the Federal budget process and developing budgetary policies that impact national programs. The analyst will also prepare financial documentation, assist in congressional hearings, and respond to budget-related inquiries from various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and carry out a major budget for a significant program component.
  • Provide advice to top management on the Federal budget process.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement budgetary policies affecting national programs.
  • Review and prepare budget schedules and related financial documentation.
  • Prepare briefing materials and develop data for congressional hearings.
  • Assist in responding to routine budget-related inquiries from congressional staff, public interest groups, and the press.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service, including reviewing and analyzing financial reports and budget requests.
  • Experience in writing and editing documents for public presentation, including budget justifications and reports to Congress.
  • Ability to work closely with program administrators and financial managers to estimate funding requirements.
  • Experience managing projects involving the collection and presentation of information from multiple sources.
