About the position

The Budget Analyst position within the Department of the Air Force is primarily responsible for the day-to-day control and management of the organization's budget and funding requirements. This role involves budget formulation, execution, and analysis, ensuring that financial resources are allocated effectively to support the mission and goals of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the functional point of contact for day-to-day budget and financial issues.
• Perform budget formulation work involving the review and preparation of budget estimates and financial plans.
• Monitor obligations incurred and actual expenditures of funds during budget execution and administration.
• Provide advice, assistance, and guidance on budgeting and related information.
• Conduct analyses, reviews, and special studies of budget and related information.
• Utilize budgetary and automated systems to accomplish budgeting and funding assignments.

Requirements

• At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent, involving budget administration tasks and knowledge of policies and regulations related to budget accounts.
• A master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or a combination of experience and education that totals at least 100%.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of commonly used budgetary methods, practices, procedures, regulations, policies, and processes.
• Skill in gathering, assembling, and analyzing factual information from various sources.
• Ability to make oral presentations on budget matters and conduct budget-related training.
