About the position

The Budget Analyst position in the Office of the Secretary, Office of the General Counsel (OGC) within the Department of Commerce involves performing a variety of administrative and analytical duties related to budget management. The role focuses on planning, coordinating, and presenting budgets, as well as managing complex financial activities and monitoring expenditures to ensure compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of administrative and analytical duties connected with the review, justification, and presentation of the budgets for the Office of the General Counsel (OGC).
  • Plan and coordinate budget activities and formulate recommendations on all budgeting aspects of OGC's funding and budget structure.
  • Manage a wide range of complex financial management activities, including commercial payments, travel, interagency agreements, reimbursements, working capital fund, billings and recoveries, appropriations, and transfer of funds.
  • Monitor the use and rate of expenditures such as multi-year appropriations, allotments, transfer of funds from other agencies, internal realignments, and refunds using various financial and accounting systems.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service, including monitoring budget execution, analyzing budget data, identifying budgetary issues, and presenting budget analysis to leadership.
