About the position

As a Budget Analyst at CGI Group, Inc., you will play a crucial role in managing the Information Technology (IT) budget for a mid-market client organization. Your responsibilities will include advising clients on effective financial analysis, conducting financial due diligence, planning budgets, overseeing spending, and providing expertise in IT procurement. You will collaborate closely with program leadership to create, refine, and evaluate both CAPEX and OPEX budget proposals, estimate and forecast future financial needs, and monitor and track IT expenditures. This position is based at the client site in Alexandria, VA, but offers a hybrid working model to accommodate flexibility. In your future duties, you will work with program delivery leadership and managers to create and modify the enterprise-wide IT budget, which encompasses infrastructure, platforms, applications, and service/vendor agreements. You will consolidate budgets across all IT program areas and workstreams, utilizing Microsoft Excel for review and analysis. Your role will also involve reviewing budget and cost savings proposals to ensure they meet client standards for completeness, accuracy, and compliance. Additionally, you will assist program delivery leaders in conducting business case reviews, providing due diligence financial reviews for new IT projects or procurements, and performing cost-benefit analyses to determine financial efficiency. Monitoring and tracking annual IT spending on a monthly and quarterly basis will be essential, as will preparing budget reports in PowerPoint and Excel for presentation to program delivery leadership and clients. You will also provide data-driven analyses to support IT budget recommendations and offer detailed cost analysis, fiscal allocation, budget preparation, and estimation based on future financial needs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with program delivery leadership and managers to create and modify enterprise-wide IT budget.
  • Create and consolidate budgets across all IT program areas and workstreams using Microsoft Excel.
  • Review budget/cost savings proposals for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with client standards.
  • Assist program delivery leaders in conducting business case reviews and due diligence financial reviews for new IT projects.
  • Monitor and track annual IT spending (OPEX and CAPEX) on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Prepare budget reports in PowerPoint and Excel for presentation to program delivery leadership and clients.
  • Provide data-driven analyses to defend IT budget recommendations.
  • Advise program leadership and clients with detailed cost analysis and budget preparation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or equivalent field.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT budget analysis.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong critical thinking skills to troubleshoot complex financial issues.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
