About the position

The Budget Analyst position at the Department of the Interior involves performing budget formulation, execution, and monitoring to ensure effective financial management. The position is based in various locations including Billings, Montana, Denver, Colorado, Larimer County, Colorado, and Sacramento, California, and offers opportunities for telework as determined by agency policy.

Responsibilities

  • Performs budget formulation and prepares detailed analysis of multi-year budget estimates.
  • Performs budget execution and monitoring of obligations and actual expenditures with different sources and types of funding.
  • Recommends and completes budget reprogramming actions to assure optimum utilization of available resources.
  • Recommends internal budget process improvements.
  • Provides expert advice to managers to develop annual work plans and schedules for approved budget execution.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in federal service, demonstrating experience in budget formulation, execution, and tracking.
  • Must maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times as the position requires operation of government vehicles.
