About the position

The Budget Analyst at the University of North Carolina Wilmington is responsible for reviewing and monitoring the university's budget for accuracy, analyzing spending trends, and identifying areas for efficiency improvements. This role involves troubleshooting budget inconsistencies, providing recommendations to management, and offering guidance to campus constituents. The analyst will oversee daily budget processes and ensure that program goals are effectively supported through professional technical knowledge and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform financial reconciliations, including University Reserves.
  • Provide oversight and guidance on departmental budget requests and prepare budget transactions as required.
  • Assist in preparing the annual All Funds Budget for presentation to the UNCW Board of Trustees and submission to the UNC System Office.
  • Assist with the Campus-Initiated-Tuition-Increase (CITI) process, including preparing meeting minutes and validating campus requests.
  • Assist with year-end cash management by providing budget reports and preparing journal entries.
  • Process budget revisions for the Investment fund and Differential tuition.
  • Provide website updates to the website content manager.
  • Serve as a backup for the Special Funds Budgeting AnaPlan module and train campus staff as needed.
  • Complete other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Budget, Planning, and Analysis.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree and 1-2 years of related experience, or a Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience.
  • All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
