About the position

The Budget Analyst position at the Department of Health and Human Services involves overseeing all phases of budget formulation and execution for assigned programs. Responsibilities

  • Planning, organizing, and executing the office budget.
  • Serving as a technical authority on budgetary guidelines and policies.
  • Providing expert advice on budget formulation, presentation, and execution.
  • Preparing background material for Congressional appropriations committees.
  • Developing operational and financial reports and performing root cause analysis.
  • Maintaining reconciliations of processes to ensure data accuracy.
  • Making decisions on work problems presented by budget staff.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in federal program financial obligations.
  • Experience in analyzing plans and resource needs for budget proposals.
  • Ability to execute budgets consistent with policy and financial operating plans.
  • Experience in mentoring staff involved in budget preparation.
