About the position

The Budget Analyst will be responsible for the systematic allocation of financial resources within the department to achieve strategic goals and operational objectives. This role involves forecasting revenues and expenses, planning for capital expenditures, and managing cash flow to maintain financial health. The analyst will establish a detailed budget to set financial targets, prioritize spending, and identify potential areas for cost savings and investment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new, holistic budget processes for two recently merged groups to ensure effective management and allocation of financial resources.
  • Develop and implement budget planning and processes.
  • Create and implement processes to review and approve individual/team/project budget requests.
  • Develop processes for managing incoming revenue streams and tracking outgoing expenses.
  • Develop processes for allocating funds to different teams, projects, individuals, companies, etc.
  • Implement tools and clear processes to develop, implement, and track budget plans, both operational and financial (Capital Project).
  • Ensure processes allow for the preparation of forecasts and the setting of financial goals.
  • Optimize budgets based on spend data and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or relevant experience in finance, accounting, math, statistics, economics, or accounting.
  • Extensive experience with the above responsibilities and demonstrated success in execution.
  • Experience working with product development and information technology subject matter and staff is a plus.
  • Proficiency with accounting, reporting, and budgeting software/enterprise performance management software, including Excel.
  • Analytical skills to process information, evaluate costs and benefits, and solve complex problems.
  • Communication skills to explain and defend analyses and recommendations.
  • Detail-oriented approach when analyzing each budget item.
  • Math skills to perform calculations and solve equations.
  • Writing skills to present technical information understandably.
  • Critical thinking skills to determine possible outcomes for various budgeting choices and identify areas of waste.
  • Problem-solving skills to review budgeting options and analyze spending to identify issues and develop solutions.
  • Financial modeling skills to forecast financial outcomes and make informed decisions.
