About the position

The Budget Analyst at Harmony Public Schools is responsible for developing, analyzing, and managing budgets to ensure financial efficiency and compliance within the organization. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in accounting software, and a solid understanding of financial principles. The Budget Analyst will collaborate with various departments to provide insights that drive informed decision-making and contribute to the organization's financial health and strategic planning initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors individual district's expenditures and payroll costs; identifies any deviations to their budgets and communicates these anomalies with effective solutions.
  • Forecasts Revenue vs. Cost (estimate vs. actual).
  • Provides reports on the variations throughout different spending categories.
  • Reviews financial and operating budget reports for accuracy and identifies areas where appropriate use of funds can be made.
  • Serves as the liaison between the District and the Finance team to ensure the budgets are expended in a manner that achieves assigned program goals.
  • Analyzes budget data for multiple programs and funds; analyzes and monitors line item expenses; provides supervisor with historical information; makes budget recommendations; initiates, transmits, and posts budget and expense transfers.
  • Establishes budgeting systems and procedures; analyzes and monitors categorical budgets and expenditures for compliance with District policy and funding agency guidelines.
  • Utilizes the ERP system to monitor and amend line-item budgets; reviews, analyzes, and updates position management actions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in financial accounting or corporate accounting roles is preferred.
  • Familiarity with account reconciliation processes and payroll management is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Proficiency in accounting software; experience with Xero is a plus.
  • Knowledge of technical accounting principles and practices is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members across departments.
