About the position

The Senior Budget Analyst will be responsible for overseeing all phases of budget formulation and execution for assigned programs within the U.S. Administration for Children and Families. This role involves a variety of administrative and analytical tasks related to the agency's budget, including planning, organizing, and executing the office budget while ensuring effective integration of program and performance planning. The analyst will serve as a technical authority on budgetary guidelines and provide expert advice on budget formulation and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, organizing, and executing the office budget while ensuring effective integration of program and performance planning.
  • Serving as a technical authority on budgetary guidelines, policies, legislation, and regulations.
  • Providing expert advice on budget formulation, presentation, and execution, including the development of annual and multi-year budget projections.
  • Preparing background materials for agency officials appearing before Congressional appropriations committees or oversight entities.
  • Developing operational and financial reports, performing root cause analysis, and ensuring data validity.
  • Maintaining reconciliations of processes to ensure accuracy of data and reports.
  • Making decisions on work problems presented by budget staff.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service, including knowledge of federal program budgeting processes.
  • Experience in analyzing plans and resource needs to develop budget proposals.
  • Ability to execute budgets consistent with policy and financial operating plans.
  • Experience in identifying and proposing solutions to complex management problems.
  • Mentoring staff involved in budget preparation.
