About the position

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a budget analyst in the installation's budget office, performing routine budget functions involving the formulation, execution, and analysis of budgets for assigned support activities and organizational components.

Responsibilities

  • Perform budget formulation work involving review and preparation of annual funding needs for future budget years.
  • Monitor obligations incurred and actual expenditures of funds as part of budget execution and administration work.
  • Provide advice, assistance, and guidance on budgeting and related information.
  • Conduct analyses, reviews, and special studies of budget and related information for assigned programs/organizations.
  • Utilize automated budgetary systems and computer-generated products to accomplish budgeting assignments.

Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent, involving knowledge of budgetary methods, practices, and regulations.
  • A master's degree or equivalent graduate education in a relevant field, or a combination of specialized experience and graduate education.
  • Knowledge of commonly used budgetary methods, practices, procedures, regulations, and policies.
  • Skill in gathering, assembling, and analyzing factual information from various reports and records.
  • Ability to make oral presentations on the budget and conduct budget-related training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automated data processing software programs used for budget tasks.
  • Experience in preparing written forms, schedules, and reports related to budget obligations and expenditures.
