About the position

The Budget Analyst will support the daily operations and management of the office of budget and planning, ensuring alignment with the office of the president. This role involves assisting in the development and implementation of the university's annual operating budget, managing accounting systems, and facilitating budgetary requests and revisions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with development and implementation of the university's annual operating budget
  • Develop and maintain accounting system, reconcile accounts to the general ledger, run and balance reports, prepare journal entries, and balance year-end according to Ellucian Colleague financials and budgetary controls
  • Facilitate and communicate the development and evaluation of budgetary requests, including preparing budget transfers and adjustments
  • Assist in scheduling and teaching budget process training, including updating training resources
  • Assist in the budget revision process, including reviewing, posting, and reconciling
  • Review, analyze, and resolve inquiries and problems regarding budget matters, account balances, fund transfers, encumbrances, and other budgetary matters
  • Assist with preparing monthly and quarterly budget reports
  • Manage the chart of accounts and other assigned budget tasks
  • Distribute budget preparation information
  • Assemble budget prep information for consideration by the budget committee
  • Aid in the development and analysis of various indirect cost models
  • Perform budget research as needed
  • Aid in the development of written budgeting and cost accounting standards to be used by the university
  • Set up all new general ledger accounts
  • Administer the Budget Adjustment Requests (BARs) process among departments
  • Administer and maintain all temporary restricted and endowed scholarship accounts to the general ledger
  • Supervise college work-study students
  • Make arrangements for and coordinate meetings
  • Purchase office supplies
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • Some experience in budget analysis

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred
