About the position

The Budget Analyst position within the Department of the Air Force is primarily responsible for the day-to-day control and management of the organization's budget and funding requirements. This role involves budget formulation, execution, and analysis, ensuring that financial resources are allocated effectively to support the mission and goals of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the functional point of contact for day-to-day budget and financial issues.
  • Perform budget formulation work, including the review and preparation of budget estimates and financial plans.
  • Monitor obligations incurred and actual expenditures of funds during budget execution and administration.
  • Provide advice, assistance, and guidance on budgeting and related information.
  • Conduct analyses, reviews, and special studies of budget and related information.
  • Utilize budgetary and automated systems to accomplish budgeting and funding assignments.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent, including knowledge of budgetary methods and practices.
  • Education: A master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or a combination of experience and education that totals 100%.
  • Knowledge of commonly used budgetary methods, practices, procedures, regulations, and policies.
  • Skill in gathering, assembling, and analyzing factual information from various sources.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automated data processing software programs used for budget tasks.
  • Ability to make oral presentations on budget matters and conduct training.
