About the position

The position involves working closely with the Budget Team to assist with the daily operations of campus-wide budget administration. Responsibilities include reviewing budget transfer requests, managing positions, and supporting various activities related to budget operations on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. The role also encompasses assisting with the annual budget process and quarterly forecasts, which involves gathering data and preparing reports for higher-level review. Additionally, the incumbent will collect Student Fee Revenue data for monthly reports and may attend Student Fee Advisory Committee meetings to support the Budget Office. This includes collecting approved correspondences for the Student Fee Database and relaying important information back to the budget team. The position requires tracking and maintaining budgets related to vacant permanent positions in the General Fund, preparing and posting budget transfers, and updating management reports. The incumbent will work proactively with the Budget Team and stakeholders to identify and implement processes to improve operational efficiencies, assist in onboarding new budget software, and create reports to support inquiries from various stakeholders. Special projects may also be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support the annual budget process and quarterly forecasts by gathering data and preparing related reports for review.
  • Collect Student Fee Revenue data for monthly reports and attend Student Fee Advisory Committee meetings as needed.
  • Track and maintain budgets related to vacant permanent positions in the General Fund, including preparation and posting of budget transfers.
  • Work with the Budget Team to identify and implement processes to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Assist in onboarding and maintaining new budget software and provide training as needed.
  • Query databases and create reports to support questions from division analysts and other stakeholders.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, business administration, finance, or a closely related field, or a combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
  • Two years of progressively responsible professional experience in analyzing data, including one year involving duties such as preparation, justification, and analysis of a budget.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in using PeopleSoft, Oracle, or other databases including running queries.
  • Technical fluency with Oracle/PeopleSoft, CSU Common Management System, or equivalent student/finance information system.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Professional and Google Workspace.
