About the position

The Budget Analyst position within the Department of the Air Force serves as a resources advisor, focusing on the control and management of the organizational budget and funding requirements. This role involves the formulation, execution, and analysis of budgets, ensuring effective financial management and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the functional point of contact for day-to-day budget/financial issues.
• Perform budget formulation work involving review and preparation of budget estimates and financial plans.
• Monitor obligations incurred and actual expenditures of funds as part of budget execution and administration work.
• Provide advice, assistance, and guidance on budgeting and related information, conducting analyses, reviews, and special studies.
• Utilize budgetary and automated systems to accomplish budgeting and funding assignments.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent, including knowledge of budgetary methods and practices.
• Education: A master's degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or a combination of experience and education that totals 100%.
• Knowledge of automated data processing software programs used for budget tasks.
• Skill in gathering, assembling, and analyzing factual information from various sources.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in financial management and budget analysis within a federal agency.
• Familiarity with the Department of Defense financial regulations and policies.
