About the position

The City of Olathe is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Budget & Management Analyst to join its Finance team. This pivotal role involves monitoring and analyzing governmental services, strategizing delivery methods, and assessing costs and performance outcomes. The analyst will leverage Workday to coordinate the preparation and publication of the Annual Budget, forecast revenues, and assist with the Capital Improvements Program (CIP). The position aims to drive operational efficiency and effectiveness in support of the city's mission to serve the community better.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates specific analysis of departmental service budgets and costs.
• Assists in the preparation, publication, and monitoring of the Annual Budget.
• Monitors existing revenue sources and prepares supporting forecasts.
• Prepares adjustments as warranted and analyzes monthly financial reports.
• Prepares ad hoc reports and analysis as needed.
• Assists in the preparation, publication, and monitoring of the City Capital Improvements Program (CIP).
• Analyzes rates, fees, and taxes; analyzes revenues and expenditures; recommends amendments to the budget as warranted.
• Supports the mission, vision, and values of the City by improving operational efficiency and effectiveness.
• Performs research and prepares analysis for City Leadership, consulting with internal stakeholders regarding budget and CIP.

Requirements

• Three years of increasingly responsible and professional analytical experience in budget, finance, accounting, or capital improvement programming.
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business or public administration, finance, accounting, or a related field is required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Workday is preferred.
• A master's degree in public administration or business administration is preferred.
