About the position

The Budget Analyst position at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) involves providing expert advice and guidance on budgetary policies and regulations. The role is crucial for supporting the formulation, justification, presentation, enactment, and execution of the budget for the Office of Information and Technology (OIT). The analyst will monitor budget execution, assist program managers, and establish financial goals to enhance the Department's homeland security functions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized expertise in budgetary analytical and administrative functions for the Office of Information and Technology (OIT).
  • Support the formulation, justification, presentation, enactment, and execution stages of the budget process for OIT's budget.
  • Monitor the execution of a budget with various funding sources and types.
  • Assist program managers in interpreting the impact of financial changes.
  • Establish financial and budgetary goals, timetables, and milestones.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply.
  • 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11).
  • Experience in providing analytical services for budget processes.
  • Knowledge of data forms, procedures, and guidelines for appropriated and revolving fund budgets.
  • Ability to analyze financial and budgetary relationships and develop recommendations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with federal budget processes and regulations.
  • Familiarity with the Department of Homeland Security's budgetary policies.
