About the position

The Budget Analyst position at the Department of Defense involves managing the programming, budgeting, execution, and review of complex Security Cooperation programs. The role requires the incumbent to negotiate budget recommendations, advise leadership on budget policies, and analyze guidelines to address funding adjustments. This position is critical in ensuring that the agency meets national and foreign policy objectives through effective budget management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the total spectrum of programming, budgeting, execution, and review of Security Cooperation programs.
  • Negotiate with management on budget recommendations and adjustments.
  • Advise leadership on budget policies and guidelines.
  • Analyze budgetary guidelines, policies, and regulations to address unplanned requirements and funding adjustments.
  • Develop recommendations for resource allocation to meet program managers' unplanned or unfunded requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, including analyzing and recommending budget adjustments, negotiating with management, and advising on budgetary policies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in working with external partners such as the Department of State and Military Departments.
  • Knowledge of legislative processes related to budgetary guidelines.
