About the position

The City of Olathe is seeking a Budget & Management Analyst to join its Finance team. This role is crucial for monitoring and analyzing governmental services, strategizing delivery methods, and assessing costs and performance outcomes. The analyst will leverage Workday for budget preparation, revenue forecasting, and financial analysis, contributing to the Capital Improvements Program (CIP) and driving operational efficiency to better serve the community.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze departmental service budgets and costs.
• Assist in the preparation, publication, and monitoring of the Annual Budget.
• Monitor existing revenue sources and prepare supporting forecasts.
• Prepare adjustments as warranted and analyze monthly financial reports.
• Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis as needed.
• Assist in the preparation, publication, and monitoring of the City Capital Improvements Program (CIP).
• Analyze rates, fees, and taxes; analyze revenues and expenditures; recommend budget amendments as warranted.
• Support the mission, vision, and values of the City by improving operational efficiency and effectiveness.
• Perform research and prepare analysis for City Leadership; consult with internal stakeholders regarding budget and CIP.

Requirements

• At least three years of professional analytical experience in budget, finance, or accounting.
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, finance, accounting, or a related field is required.
• Experience with Workday is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• A master's degree in public administration or business administration is preferred.
