About the position

The Budget Analyst at Johns Hopkins University will work within a team to manage pre-award and post-award grants and contracts activities. This role involves supporting the Grants and Contracts Manager and faculty/staff by overseeing financial activities related to various funds, including sponsored, general, gift/discretionary, and endowment funds. The position requires processing transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with university and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate SAP transactions including online payment requests and shopping carts.
  • Process online forms for independent contractors and Payment Works.
  • Prepare invoices for sponsors and process accounts receivable documents.
  • Handle travel reimbursements for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Prepare payroll e-forms and non-payroll cost transfers.
  • Track documents from creation to payment and troubleshoot issues.
  • Complete monthly verification and reconciliation of non-salary expenses.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations for sponsored accounts and gifts/discretionary accounts.
  • Assist in monitoring fund expenditures throughout project life.
  • Identify budget issues and provide alternative solutions.
  • Assist with sub-award management and initiate Purchase Orders.
  • Clear commitments billed to awards and maintain accurate spending projections.
  • Prepare financial reports and analysis using SAP and Excel.
  • Assist with financial reporting during project closeout.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
  • One year of related progressively responsible experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of SAP and FIBI highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with University and Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a broad cross-section of clients.
  • Collaborative with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond quickly to changing needs.
