About the position

The Budget Analyst position at the Department of the Interior involves formulating budget estimates, analyzing financial data, and executing budget activities for assigned organizations and programs. Responsibilities

  • Formulate budget estimates and analyze, interpret, and project budget data for assigned organizations.
  • Conduct research to locate and obtain information from existing financial databases.
  • Execute budget activities and operations for assigned organizations and programs.
  • Review, execute, and distribute Planning Target Allocation (PTA) and Annual Work Plan (AWP) allocations.
  • Monitor and track the expenditure of direct appropriations and other financial resources.
  • Participate in long and short-range financial planning and budgetary authorizations.
  • Ensure the formulated budget is consistent with high-priority directives.
  • Develop, review, and edit detailed analyses, estimates, proposals, and justifications for funding needs.
  • Extract and analyze budgetary data to meet management requirements and identify needs for process changes.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • For GS-09: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07, or a master's degree, or two years of progressively higher-level graduate education.
  • For GS-11: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-09, or a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three years of progressively higher-level graduate education.
  • Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work.
