About the position

The Budget Analyst position within the Department of the Air Force serves as the principal financial management specialist responsible for overseeing the expenditures of all Directorate funds. The role focuses on efficiently and effectively managing resources to achieve mission objectives, ensuring compliance with fiscal laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform budget execution and administration work, monitoring obligations and actual expenditures of a budget with various funding sources.
• Conduct budget formulation and cost forecasting for the assigned Directorate.
• Analyze, review, and conduct special studies of budget-related information.
• Participate in discussions, meetings, and conferences, serving on panel committees as needed.
• Provide recurring and requested financial advisory services for the assigned Directorate's fiscal year budget.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• At least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade NH-01 (GS-04) or equivalent in other pay systems, or a bachelor's degree, or a combination of experience and education.
• Thorough knowledge of appropriate fiscal law as it applies to the use of appropriated funds and working capital funds.
• Knowledge of multi-year, single-year, and no-year appropriations and funds, including their characteristics and applications.
• Ability to formulate, justify, and execute assigned budgets.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with financial data processing systems and their capabilities.
• Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing, to establish effective professional relationships.
