About the position

The Budget Analyst position at the National Park Service involves performing various budgeting functions within a federal agency. The role is critical in assisting with the formulation and execution of financial plans, advising program managers on budget procedures, and ensuring compliance with budgetary policies. The position is developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level and is available in multiple locations including Vancouver, WA, Springfield, OR, Ventura, CA, and Jackson, WY.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with all phases of budget and related financial management matters.
  • Apply accepted accounting principles in carrying out all transactions affecting the general ledger.
  • Assist with formulation and execution of broad financial plans and policies affecting the authorization and use of funds.
  • Advise leaders and program managers in budget procedures to help them prepare and execute successful annual budgets.
  • Review and analyze financial plans and summaries prepared for comparison of budgets to allowances; determine significant deviations and reasons, and recommend corrective action.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
  • Direct Deposit participation required.
  • Time-in-Grade requirements must be met for current or former federal employees.
