About the position

The Budget Analyst position at the Department of the Air Force serves as a resources advisor, focusing on the formulation, execution, and analysis of the organization's budget and funding requirements. This role involves day-to-day management of budgetary issues and requires specialized knowledge of budgetary methods and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the functional point of contact for day-to-day budget/financial issues.
  • Perform budget formulation work involving review and preparation of budget estimates and financial plans.
  • Perform budget execution and administration work involving the monitoring of obligations incurred and the actual expenditures of funds.
  • Provide advice, assistance, and guidance on budgeting and related information and conduct analyses, reviews, and special studies of budget and/or related information.
  • Use budgetary and other automated systems and computer-generated products in accomplishing budgeting/funding assignments.

Requirements

  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of commonly used budgetary methods, practices, procedures, regulations, and policies.
  • Ability to gather, assemble, and analyze sources of factual information.
  • Skill in preparing written forms, schedules, and reports related to the obligation and expenditures of funds.
  • Ability to make oral presentations on the budget and conduct budget-related training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automated data processing software programs.
  • Experience in financial management or budget analysis.
