About the position

The Budget Analyst at Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI) plays a crucial role in the financial management of clinical trials. This position involves interpreting clinical trial protocols from a financial perspective, developing and negotiating budgets, and presenting proposals to executive management. The analyst will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure accurate budget creation and maintenance, contributing to the overall mission of advancing oncology treatments and improving patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets protocols from a financial perspective and develops clinical trial budgets.
  • Negotiates pricing and presents budget proposals to executive management.
  • Creates new budgets in Excel based on Sarah Cannon cost and charge information.
  • Analyzes clinical trial protocols to provide detailed counteroffers to sponsors' initial budgets.
  • Maintains and communicates budget statuses to executive management.
  • Proactively solicits input from clinical staff and management for budget clarification.
  • Attends protocol and budget review meetings to share information.
  • Prepares and presents budgets to the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Collaborates with Contract Analyst to generate final contracts for execution.
  • Utilizes clinical trial management system for budget input.
  • Serves as Site Liaison for budget and contract issues at designated Strategic Sites.
  • Maintains budget creation and negotiation status in Salesforce system.
  • Processes sponsor requests for budget amendments and maintains status in Salesforce.
  • Interacts with finance team to understand budget design implications on study accruals and receivables.
  • Processes vendor agreements and performs other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 1 year work experience utilizing basic financial principles, Excel, and other data management tools (e.g. CTMS)
  • At least 1 year of experience in budget negotiation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and other complex formulas
  • Familiarity with clinical research and/or medical terminology
  • Functional knowledge of clinical trials, preferred
  • Analytical decision-making skills
  • Project management capabilities
  • Strong negotiation and professional communication skills
