About the position

This position is responsible for coordinating operating budgeting and management reporting activities for assigned departments. It involves budget formulation, variance analysis, and utilizing reports to analyze data from various sources to assist in budget planning and decision-making. The role requires a combination of accounting knowledge and technical system skills, particularly in database and system management.

Responsibilities

  • Administrator of the assigned departments budget and management reporting software, including ongoing system maintenance, reporting, and training of directors and staff.
  • Collaboratively interacts with Information Technology, Accounting, Finance & Reimbursement, and Patient Financial Services to design solutions to technical problems.
  • Assists with the coordination of the hospital's annual budget process and manages input into budget workbooks from internal staff.
  • Provides thorough financial and statistical analysis of data to produce reports and support decision-making.
  • Maintains and continually improves technical skills needed to manipulate data.
  • Maintains and designs database structures for reporting and analysis.
  • Maintains expert level report writing for budgetary and management reporting systems, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
  • Identifies appropriate data sources and fields for reporting and analytic needs.
  • Manipulates and analyzes complex data to assist in decision-making.
  • Meets with departments and accounting staff to understand business needs for reporting requests and identify opportunities for report writing or modifications.
  • Manages the agenda and tracking for all FTE requests and budget neutral discussion items.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Industrial Engineering, Business Management, or Hospital Administration or related field.
  • Two years' experience in data analysis, financial statement preparation, financial systems administration, and/or healthcare planning background.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • Two years professional capacity experience, preferably in healthcare.
