About the position

The position involves planning, implementing, and administering the full spectrum of budget and financial management services for the Department of Justice. Responsibilities include gathering and consolidating narrative information and statistical data for budget operations, monitoring obligations and expenditures, and preparing annual administrative budgets and operating plans. The role requires analyzing expenditure data and producing a variety of budgetary reports using office software applications. As training and experience progress, responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex.

Responsibilities

  • Gathering and consolidating narrative information and statistical data needed for budget operations and financial reporting.
  • Researching legal, regulatory, program, and budgetary information.
  • Monitoring and tracking obligations and expenditures for the office.
  • Verifying that obligations and expenditures occur on a timely basis in accordance with regulatory controls.
  • Providing information based on the products of the financial management system.
  • Analyzing expenditure data to identify variables affecting costs.
  • Preparing annual administrative budgets and operating plans.
  • Providing a wide variety of budgetary reports.
  • Producing a variety of written documents and materials using a wide range of office software applications.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication including fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing.
  • Must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
  • Must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
