About the position

The Budget Analyst plays a crucial role in assisting the Vice President of Finance and Operations at Vance Granville Community College by developing, analyzing, and managing various budgets, including state, county, and institutional budgets. This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the college's approved budget, providing budget reports, and ensuring effective budget management across college planning units. The role also involves training staff and participating in institutional committees.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight and support in developing, analyzing, and managing the college budget from all funding sources.
• Monitor departmental budgets to prevent overruns by collaborating with planning unit managers.
• Perform ongoing budget analysis by calculating revenue and expenditure variances and trend analyses.
• Assist in the annual budget development process by forecasting budgets and uploading them into the financial system.
• Provide new and ongoing budget training to planning unit managers.
• Perform various budget entries including creating new budget codes and budget amendments.
• Coordinate meetings with planning unit personnel to facilitate budget preparation.
• Prepare regular and special budget reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot errors and inconsistencies in the budget and recommend program improvements.
• Assist with the annual audit as requested.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with three years of analytical experience in accounting and budgeting.
• OR an associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with six years of analytical experience in accounting and budgeting.
