About the position

The Budget Analyst position at the Idaho Operations Office of the Department of Energy involves performing comprehensive budgetary analysis and operations. The role requires expertise in various aspects of the budget process, including formulation, justification, execution, and review of budgets, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and advising on financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of administrative and analytical duties connected with the formulation, justification, presentation, execution, and review of budgets.
• Monitor the execution of the approved budget and ensure that all obligations, expenditures, and disbursements meet legal and regulatory requirements.
• Utilize financial systems such as Funds Distribution System (FDS), Standard Accounting and Reporting System (STARS), and Strategic Integrated Procurement Enterprise System (STRIPES).
• Provide advice on Operations and Budget/Financial Systems.
• Utilize Microsoft Office Suite, including design and manipulation of pivot tables, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service, including performing all aspects of budget analysis and advising on budget processes.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with federal budget processes and regulations.
• Familiarity with financial reporting and analysis tools.
