About the position

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a budget analyst in the installation's budget office. Employee performs routine, continuing budget functions involving the formulation, execution, and/or analysis of budgets and economic and cost analysis studies for assigned installation's support activities and organizational components.

Responsibilities

  • Performs budget formulation work involving review and preparation of annual funding needs for one or more future budget years for assigned, relatively stable organizations, activities, and/or accounts.
  • Performs budget execution and administration work involving the monitoring of obligations incurred and the actual expenditures of funds.
  • Provides advice, assistance, and guidance on budgeting and related information.
  • Conducts analyses, reviews, and special studies of budget and/or related information for assigned programs/organizations.
  • Performs routine, individual economic analyses and impact studies.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service
  • The work requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
  • This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • Disclosure of Political Appointments
  • Leave accrual may be authorized upon request
  • Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
  • Employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings and weekends and may be subject to recall
  • This is a Financial Management Level 1 Certified position IAW the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, Section 1599d.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of commonly used budgetary methods, practices, procedures, regulations, policies, and processes to formulate, justify, and execute assigned budget supporting the employing organization's missions, functions, goals, objectives, work processes, and sources of funding.
  • Knowledge of automated data processing software programs and capabilities used to accomplish budget/funding tasks.
  • Skill in gathering, assembling, and analyzing source of factual information, such as that found in accounting reports, payroll records, work reports, or inventory and supply data.
  • Skill in preparing written forms, schedules, and reports related to the obligation and expenditures of funds.
  • Ability to make oral presentations on the budget, and conduct budget-related training to a variety of audiences.
