About the position

The Budget Analyst position at the Department of Defense involves serving as a senior analyst and subject matter expert in budgeting, programming, and financial management operations. The role is critical in supporting the mission by managing policy guidance for budget estimates, participating in cross-functional teams, and ensuring effective resource allocation. The analyst will identify funding issues and provide strategic advice to leadership, aiming for maximum effectiveness in financial operations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior analyst and subject matter expert performing budgeting, programming, and day-to-day financial management operations in support of the mission.
• Manage the development of policy guidance and instructions for the preparation and submission of budget estimates.
• Participate in cross-functional teams within the Command on diverse matters impacting mission areas.
• Develop and execute command budget resources to assure accomplishment in all phases of program.
• Identify existing or potential funding problems areas and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide advice to superiors pertaining to financial management, business management, and trend analysis.
• Formulate and recommend changes in policies and relationships with a view towards obtaining maximum effectiveness in coordination and control.

Requirements

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
• Must file a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE, Form 450, upon entry onto the position and annually thereafter.
• This position requires Financial Management Level II certification within 24 months of entrance on duty.
• One year of specialized experience which includes monitoring budget execution, analyzing budget data, identifying budgetary issues, and presenting budget analysis to leadership.
