About the position

The Budget Analyst position at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) involves performing analytical work to monitor and execute budgets for various DHS programs and projects. The role requires evaluating the impact of budgetary actions, interpreting congressional legislation, and analyzing program plans and funding changes to ensure effective financial management within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Projecting and analyzing potential effects of budgetary actions on program activities and the attainment of program goals and objectives.
  • Performing a wide variety of administrative and analytical duties connected with the review, justification, execution, and presentation of the budgets for a major DHS component(s).
  • Providing interpretations of congressional legislation and assessing the impact of new and revised congressional legislation on the formulation and execution of assigned program budgets.
  • Analyzing and evaluating continual changes in program plans and funding and their effect on financial and budget program milestones.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government for GS-13 applicants.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal government for GS-12 applicants.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal government for GS-11 applicants, or a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.
