About the position

Highline Public Schools is seeking a Budget Analyst to join our Business Services team for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. This professional position is situated within the Business Services Department and is designed to work collaboratively with an assigned portfolio of programs. The Budget Analyst will be responsible for researching, analyzing, and advising district leadership on staffing and budget decisions that align with the Highline Promise. This role is flexible and requires the application of knowledge and skills across various programs, which may include basic education, categorical programs, career and technical education, alternative education programs, special education, facilities and maintenance, transportation, associated student body programs, and central office budgets. The Budget Analyst will play a crucial role in ensuring that the district's financial resources are allocated effectively to support the educational goals of Highline Public Schools. This includes conducting thorough analyses of budget proposals, monitoring expenditures, and providing insights that help shape strategic financial decisions. The position requires a strong understanding of budgeting processes and the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to a culture of belonging and innovative learning, ensuring that all students are prepared for their future endeavors. In addition to the analytical responsibilities, the Budget Analyst will also engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in budgeting and financial management within the educational sector. Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze budget proposals and financial data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in budget analysis or financial management, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
