About the position

The Budget Analyst at Pittsburgh Public Schools plays a crucial role in the financial management of the District's General Fund and supplemental-funded budgets. This position is responsible for assisting in the development and analysis of budgets across various programs, including general fund, site-based, and special education. The Budget Analyst will review payments and requisitions, prepare financial reports, and manage cash flow to ensure the financial health of the district. Additionally, the role involves preparing and reviewing budget transfers, monitoring position control, and maintaining records in the Munis financial system. The Budget Analyst will also manage time and effort reporting for Federally-funded employees and assist with the district's financial responsibilities related to Charter Schools, including annual applications and reviews. Conducting budget training for school-based and program staff is another essential function of this role. The analyst will assist in preparing the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards for the annual Single Audit of the School District and will be involved in continuous research and data entry in Munis. Responding to inquiries from Principals and Program Managers by providing information and assistance is also a key responsibility. The position may include other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall financial operations of the district.

Responsibilities

  • Perform continuous research and data entry in Munis.
  • Respond to inquiries from Principals and Program Managers by providing information and assistance before and during the operation of programs.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • Relevant experience preferred.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office and other business-related software.
  • Munis experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Outstanding analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work productively with external auditors and vendors.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with schools and other departments.
