About the position

The Budget Analyst position at the Department of Veterans Affairs involves managing budgetary functions for the Fort Rosecrans and Miramar National Cemetery Complex. The role includes budget formulation, execution, and providing guidance on fund availability and limitations. The analyst will monitor purchase orders, review financial data, and maintain budgetary files, ensuring compliance with regulations and effective financial management.

Responsibilities

• Perform budget work for Fort Rosecrans and Miramar National Cemetery Complex.
• Prepare detailed analysis and estimates of annual funding needs for future budget years.
• Provide management officials with procedural and regulatory guidance regarding fund availability.
• Monitor purchase orders and contracts, determining correct sources for payment.
• Review purchase order invoicing for accuracy and verify payments to the Austin Finance Service Center.
• Maintain a complete set of budgetary files with all recurring reports accessible for easy retrieval.
• Evaluate data for consistency with previous estimates and current program operations.
• Assist in preparing correspondence and necessary forms related to cemetery operations.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-7 in budgetary program management functions.
• Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
• Possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
• Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.
