About the position

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a command SC/A6 budget analyst, performing program planning, analysis, and technical work for DoD appropriations, program elements, and elements of expense for various Headquarters Air Combat Command (HQ ACC) SC/A6, wing communications squadrons, and numbered Air Forces communications squadrons.

Responsibilities

  • Performs budget execution work.
  • Performs budget formulation work involving preparation of detailed analyses and estimates of annual funding needs for one or more future budget years.
  • Prepares guidance and provides financial advice on budgetary matters.
  • Conducts budgetary analysis and reviews.
  • Uses automated budgetary systems and computer-generated products in accomplishing budgeting assignments.

Requirements

  • At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of AF and MAJCOM budgetary methods, practices, procedures, regulations, precedents, policies, and guides.
  • Understanding of sources, types, and methods of funding for assigned organizations and programs.
  • Knowledge of budgetary and financial relationships between assigned budgets and programs of other agency components.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of structure, programs, and work methods of organizations for budgeting work.
  • Knowledge of commonly used agency budget procedures, regulations, precedents, policies, and guides.
  • Skill in selecting and applying a variety of analytical methods and techniques to budgetary processes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
