About the position

The Budget Analyst position within the Department of the Air Force is primarily responsible for performing routine budget functions, including the formulation, execution, and analysis of budgets for assigned installation support activities and organizational components. This role involves monitoring obligations and expenditures, providing guidance on budgeting, and conducting analyses related to budget information.

Responsibilities

• Perform budget formulation work by reviewing and preparing annual funding needs for future budget years.
• Monitor obligations incurred and actual expenditures of funds as part of budget execution and administration.
• Provide advice, assistance, and guidance on budgeting and related information.
• Conduct analyses, reviews, and special studies of budget and related information for assigned programs/organizations.
• Utilize automated budgetary systems and computer-generated products to accomplish budgeting assignments.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent, or a master's degree or equivalent graduate education in a relevant field.
• Knowledge of commonly used budgetary methods, practices, procedures, regulations, and policies.
• Skill in gathering, assembling, and analyzing factual information from various sources.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with automated data processing software programs used for budgeting tasks.
• Ability to make oral presentations on budget-related topics and conduct training for diverse audiences.
