About the position

The Health Information Management Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist at UC Davis Health is responsible for consulting with stakeholders to gather business requirements and analyze complex healthcare business problems using data. This role supports various Health Information Management initiatives and special projects, requiring strong leadership, creativity, and analytical skills. The BI Specialist collaborates with health system leadership to ensure the effectiveness of HIM strategic initiatives and projects, while managing day-to-day priorities to achieve accurate and timely results.

Responsibilities

• Gather business requirements from stakeholders and analyze complex healthcare business problems using data.
• Lead support for various Health Information Management initiatives and special projects.
• Collaborate with the Director of Health Information Management and health system leadership to ensure HIM strategic initiatives are effective.
• Establish day-to-day priorities and work guidelines to achieve accurate and timely results.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field/discipline.
• Extensive professional-level experience in data gathering, analytics, and understanding of factors influencing projections.
• Experience in advanced data gathering, organizing, and reporting, especially within the healthcare industry.
• Ability to work in a dynamic collaborative team environment with sound negotiation and critical thinking skills.
• Advanced critical thinking skills to manage complex information, assess problems, and develop effective solutions.
• Knowledge of the clinical computer environment including hardware, software, and application software (Microsoft Suite).
• Ability to maintain security of confidential information and exercise judgment, tact, and discretion in handling sensitive information.
