About the position

The Budget and Expense Analyst will work in a fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative environment to manage a complex budget, including expense management, forecasting, and reconciliation for the Brand, Product, and Affiliated Distribution organization. This role involves reporting to executive and senior leadership, summarizing and interpreting data effectively. The position emphasizes accountability, agility, inclusivity, strong business acumen, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and interpret data for Brand, Product, and Affiliated Distribution cost centers related to budget tasks, including expenses and FTE tracking.
  • Liaise with Strategic Finance Business Partners for forecasting and budget management.
  • Analyze and report on the progress of the Brand, Product, and Affiliated Distribution budget and P&L.
  • Identify gaps in data or expenses through analysis of expense and FTE trends.
  • Provide recommendations for budget allocation and improvements based on a deep understanding of the budget.
  • Compile monthly and quarterly budget and planning review processes, including coordinating agendas and documenting changes.
  • Prepare high-quality materials for business meetings, including presentations and reports for senior leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes through technology optimization and automation of financial data.
  • Support the development of new expense models and processes.
  • Apply project management skills to meet stakeholder needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience involving budgets, forecasting, and accruals
  • Familiarity with visualization tools such as MicroStrategy, Tableau, etc.
  • 3+ years of strong Microsoft Suite expertise, especially in Excel

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of experience in the financial services or insurance industry
  • Strong communication skills, both written and interpersonal
  • Comfort with data query and analysis tools
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of finance processes
